The best places to work in Washington, according to Reddit
The 3 cafés and workspaces in Washington that people on Reddit named as places they worked from, led by Busboys and Poets, Southwest Library and Mindspace K-street. The 7 after them are our own picks, by work score, to make 10.
Ranked by how many Reddit threads name the place as somewhere to work, then by work score. Quoted as written, linked to the thread. One branch per chain.

Busboys is my go to until 10pm. Usually good number of people working there, especially on the little couch/chair area at the one on 14th
r/washingtondcApril 2026 The Southwest Library is beautiful and got great chairs. It's usually quiet there in the daytime.
r/washingtondcApril 2025 Check out Mindspace - https://www.mindspace.me/c/dc/ - I've worked at the K Street location before. Very nice.

Beautiful with garden patio seating and an entire upstairs with a working fireplace. The food is just OK but it is one of the coziest little nooks to do some deep focus work.
DevourDCJanuary 2026 Peregrine is a bright, bare-bones space that’s perfect for setting up your laptop and getting to work. The Capitol Hill location has lots of outdoor seating, which is wonderful on gorgeous spring days.
C'est Bien by Heather BienMay 2019 The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (MLKML) is the central facility of the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL), constructed and named in honor of the American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Its address is 901 G St. NW in Downtown Washington, D.C.
Strong Wi-Fi, lots of seating options (including rooftop views!), and plenty of outlets. You can bring your own coffee or get one inside.

My go-to. Get bagels/coffee from Call Your Mother and pick from any of the cozy comfy couches and chairs. It’s technically a hotel lobby/bar, so anyone can come and go.
DevourDCJanuary 2026 Co-working, shared office space, co working, event venue
The coworking area of the NoMa location is small—most of the space is private offices—but it has a social environment, with events such as happy hours, while still keeping things professional (no beer on tap).
WashingtonianNovember 2019mixed Bit pricey (it is the lobby bar for the ritzy Riggs hotel), but you’ll feel like the chicest little girly pop doing some work here.
DevourDCJanuary 2026 Seating is ample—it’s a great place to meet fellow teleworkers and grab a large communal table.
